Summer Camp

Wheels Summer Camp is back for 2023!

This summer we have a weeklong camp which heavily goes into Skateboarding. This is not just a skateboarding camp but much more, where one will learn and grow with many others. Skate Camp is not just for children but for all ages. Here we spend time to grow our Skateboarding skills as well as learn skills and attributes. There is much to do and learn at Skate Camp!

Summer camp is a full day, Monday-Friday, 9 am – 4:30 pm, starting on June 13 and running through August 19th. You can sign up by the week, or even the whole Summer!

Curriculum

Campers will start out the first day with basic lessons and skill assessments. Based on age, skill level, and comfort groups age 5-8 and 9-13 will separate for instruction and free riding.   Campers will explore the park with an instructor to offer lessons and advice in the street course, bowl, and flat ground tricks.

Other activities will include assembling and finding the right fit and feel for your skateboard, skates, scooter, or bike. Decorating your ride, shooting and editing a video, and a demonstration for the parents on Friday.

Designed for all genders and skill levels for kids aged 5-13. We work on building individual skills for beginners and advanced riders, make art, learn about gear parts and components, and each week work on a group video that each camper gets to take home. For more information contact us.

Some Basics

Please fill out one form per camper. Recommended ages are 5-13 years for all genders and skill levels.   Camp sessions are Monday - Friday.  Full Day 9:00 am-4:30 pm. The price is $325 for the week. We can provide all equipment (skateboards, helmets, and pads) free of charge, but campers are encouraged to bring their own boards and pads.
Drop-off begins at 8:30 am, camp starts at 9:00 am.  All campers must be picked up no later than 5:00 pm.
(Campers picked up after 5:00 pm will be charged a $20 late pickup fee.)

Light healthy snacks (fruits, vegetables, nuts, etc.) will be provided each day of camp.  We encourage drinking water instead of sports drinks. The park has a filtered water bottle fill-up station and fountain.  Allergies should be noted in the medical information section below.

Lunch will be provided every day of the week. Campers can bring their own lunch. If any camper has significant allergies, we may modify and advise against campers bringing their own food.

Safety & Sanitation: COVID Protocols

To avoid crowding we are requesting that parents and guardians do not enter the building during drop-off. When you arrive, please call the park at 563-599-9912, and we will escort your camper in and out of the building. If parents/guardians would like to come in, please call the number above.

All campers and park staff must have a morning temperature recording using a no-touch thermometer administered by a park employee. Anyone with a temperature of 100.4 degrees F will not be able to enter the building for 14 days. Parents/guardians must wait outside until their child has had their temperature recorded.

We will provide lunch and snacks but will be using only single-serving plates and utensils. All food will be consumed outside and socially distanced.  In the case of bad weather, we will use the skate floor with more than 10 feet distance between each person.  Surface areas will be disinfected before we return to skate activities.

If you would not like to participate in camp-supplied lunch, you may send your camper with a pre-packed meal, but it must come in disposable containers to be thrown out after use. Campers will be required to stay six feet apart for meals and any other sitting or standing activities while campers are not skating.

Further, we will require that all parents and guardians sign a written statement on the first day of camp to confirm that their child has not exhibited any common COVID-19 symptoms within the last 72 hours (fever above 100.4 degrees F, persistent dry cough, chest tightness, etc.). If your child has tested positive for COVID-19, you must provide evidence that they have since tested negative twice. We will reschedule campers who are symptomatic or who have tested positive without documentation of a negative test result for a later camp session when possible.
