My Logo

I created a logo for myself which is used to help promote myself. The logo is an M with my first and last name; Michael Matzek, as well as the word Design as that is what I do. The three feathers are red, white, and blue which are the colors on the American flag and used to create a rural local feeling. I created a brand manual which goes into a lot of details into my logo. I also have some examples of my logo applied to real world objects.

Original Sketches and Logo Ideas

Before the current Michael Matzek Design logo was chosen, I had created other logo ideas which for different yet similar reasons were not chosen. These were simple rough black logo ideas and are not particularly well made. I also have included some of my many original sketches which I used to brainstorm different ideas.

These are 25 different sketches of different logo ideas. From the start I already knew that my logo would be an "M" or two "M’s", since my first and last name both start with the letter "M". I always sketch before creating designs since it helps me to easily brainstorm.

None of these logos feature text at all and do not work well at telling others what I do as well as reflecting on who I am, The logo’s also have some different individual issues. The one on the left is extremely generic, while the one in the middle it is difficult to see the “M” immediately. Finally, the one on the right is too complicated and just looks bad.
